Tehran International Book Fair Postponed to December
TEHRAN -- The 37th Tehran
International Book Fair will be held in December instead of November, following a decision by the event’s policy-making council.
The decision was announced at a council meeting attended by Mohsen Javadi, deputy culture minister for cultural affairs and chairman of the book fair, and Ebrahim Heydari, the fair’s deputy director, along with other council members.
The meeting focused on the event’s implementation plans and scheduling, taking into account Iran’s cultural calendar and available resources.
The deputy culture ministry had expressed readiness to hold the exhibition in November, coinciding with Iran’s Book Week. However, council members concluded that holding the international book fair during the same period could divide attention and reduce the organizational, promotional and media impact of both events.
Following consultations and expert assessments, the council agreed not to hold the exhibition in November and instead to schedule the 37th edition for December.
The council also decided that activities and financial support during Book Week would focus on bookstores and initiatives such as book markets and seasonal book-purchasing schemes.
The measures are intended to prevent overlapping events, maintain the quality of the international exhibition and support bookstores during Book Week.
The Tehran International Book Fair is one of Iran’s major annual cultural events, bringing together publishers, authors, booksellers and readers. The December schedule is intended to allow the fair and Book Week activities to proceed with separate promotional and organizational priorities.
The report did not specify the exact dates for the 37th edition.
