EAEU, Iran to Expand Trade Cooperation

TEHRAN - Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union are looking to expand trade and economic cooperation, with a focus on increasing exports and imports between Iran and the union’s member state.
Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Muhammad Atabak has discussed opportunities for closer cooperation with Andrey Slepnev, Minister in charge of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission. Atabak confirmed Iran’s readiness to deepen trade ties and said the country had the necessary infrastructure and resources to support expanded exchanges.
The minister highlighted the importance of identifying goods for mutual trade. He noted that the EAEU had submitted a list of products it was interested in trading, while Iran had also identified goods based on its production capacity and domestic needs.
Atabak stressed that the timely development of trade relations and mutual supplies of goods was a strategic priority. He added that direct meetings between representatives of both sides could help strengthen cooperation and facilitate discussions on technical matters affecting trade.
Slepnev, in turn, reaffirmed the EAEU’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening relations with Iran. He expressed the union’s readiness to pursue comprehensive and sustained cooperation with the country across various areas of economic and commercial activity.
Both sides expressed support for advancing joint trade arrangements and expanding practical cooperation, building on their existing economic ties.
