IRGC Advisor: Iran Obtained 14-Tonne U.S. Bomb Which Failed in War
TEHRAN -- Bombs dropped by the United States during the 12-day war failed to detonate fully, leaving intact munitions that Iranian forces recovered and now possess, a senior adviser to the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutions Guards Corps said on Sunday, dismissing Washington’s threats to deploy “mother of all bombs” as an admission of failure rather than a display of strength.
Speaking at a volunteer exercise in Sari, Brigadier General Muhammad Reza Naqdi said U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent warnings that Washington’s patience has run out amounts to “an open admission of defeat against the Iranian nation,” adding that threatening language is fundamentally incompatible with claims of victory.
He said the rhetoric exposed a contradiction at the heart of Washington’s position, and that Tehran views the escalation in hostile language as evidence of strategic frustration rather than confidence.
Naqdi said munitions weighing up to 14 tonnes were used during the 12-day war, and that the failure of some to function properly allowed Iranian forces to obtain samples of the weaponry.
“Examples of these arms are now in Iran’s possession,” he said, responding to American threats, including discussion of using massive bombs.
The general warned that any military aggression against Iran would place the infrastructure, assets and investments linked to aggressors across the region at operational risk.
He said Iran’s missile deterrent has forced hostile vessels to withdraw
to a distance of 1,000 kilometers, citing Iranian missile authority and the country’s demonstrated capacity for a decisive response.
He stressed that enemy military calculations must account for Iran’s capacity to retaliate and the consequences of any hostile action.
Naqdi credited popular mobilization, rather than equipment alone, as the main source of national power.
“The main factor in the country’s authority and victory lies not in military tools but in the magnificent presence and readiness of the Iranian nation,” he said, adding that public resistance has blocked any ground incursion and compelled hostile naval forces to retreat.
He described this popular readiness as one of the most important components of national strength and a key element in reinforcing deterrence.
He also cited signs of “psychological erosion and growing protests” within the enemy’s military ranks, including defiance of senior commanders and strong objections to warmongering policies, which he said reflect a declining appetite for war.
According to Naqdi, such conditions affect the adversary’s capacity and willingness to enter into military confrontations, and he cited Iran’s full deterrent capability as the reason any military action by hostile forces would end in their own failure.
Turning to Europe, Naqdi said Washington has harmed its own allies by obstructing the creation of an independent currency and the development of advanced chip technologies.
He said the United States is conspiring and sabotaging allied economies, and predicted that European youth will eventually identify U.S. policies as the root cause of their economic stagnation.
He said the wave of resistance will spread globally, hastening the decline and end of American hegemony and fulfilling Imam Khomeini’s promise regarding the Iranian nation’s movement.
On internal matters, Naqdi said the enemy is pursuing three objectives: inciting unrest and division at home, weakening officials’ resolve to force compromise and softness toward Washington, and sowing doubt and passivity within the armed forces.
He said Iranians will not permit any division, that officials will not waver under pressure, and that fighters will not retreat a single step on the battlefield.
He described the Islamic movement as advancing under the leadership of Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei until “final victory,” and urged the public to maintain unity and vigilance.
“Just as you are certain of your own existence, be certain of definitive victory, for the enemy is in ultimate abasement and humiliation,” he said.
He called on Iranians to resist efforts to create discord and weaken national will, describing the country’s resistance as having turned it into a standard-bearer of freedom and justice in the world.
