Israeli Strikes Kill Gazans, Shelling Hits Lebanon, Forces Advance in Quneitra

GAZA/BEIRUT (Dispatches) -- Israeli forces pressed their terrorist assault across three fronts on Sunday, killing Palestinians in Gaza, shelling and demolishing homes in southern Lebanon, and pushing deeper into Syrian territory, while in southwestern Syria rival armed factions traded heavy fire in a fresh eruption of internal violence.
In Gaza, Israeli strikes killed at least two Palestinians on Sunday, including a woman shot by Israeli forces on Al-Sikka Street east of Khan Younis and a man killed when a drone struck a group of displaced people on the coastal Al-Rashid Road west of Gaza City.
Several others were wounded, some critically, in a drone attack near the Emergency and Ambulance Center in Gaza City’s Al-Rimal neighborhood. The territory’s health ministry said the overall death toll since October 2023 had risen to 74,475, with 175,517 injured.
In southern Lebanon, Israeli artillery shelled the towns of Al-Mansouri and the outskirts of Zibqin in the Tyre district, and carried out a massive demolition operation overnight in Al-Khiam.
Shelling also hit Wadi Zibqine, Wadi Slouqi, and the outskirts of Mayfadoun, while machine-gun fire targeted Beit al-Sayyad. In Kfar Shuba, an Israeli patrol expelled olive farmers from their groves and ordered them not to return, according to the head of the municipality.
Lebanon’s health ministry has reported nearly 9,000 killed since March, including 700 children, with more than 30,000 wounded.
In Syria, Israeli forces advanced with six military vehicles into the al-Makar area of southern Quneitra province on Sunday, according to Al Jazeera.
The incursion follows repeated Israeli raids and artillery attacks on villages in Quneitra and Daraa, where Israel has established nine military bases and occupied roughly 12,000 dunams of land over the past year.
Damascus has accused Israel of violating the 1974 disengagement agreement and demanded a full withdrawal.
Separately, in Syria’s southwestern Sweida province, heavy and medium weapons fire erupted between so-called National Guard forces and transitional government forces near Tal Hadid, west of the province.
No casualties were immediately confirmed, and the circumstances of the clashes remained unclear.
The incident underscores the fragile security vacuum persisting in southern Syria under the interim regime of Abu Muhammad al-Jolani, where rival armed formations continue to contest control.
