MOSCOW TASS) – Russia is
going to further promote its strategic partnership with ASEAN and cooperate in the field of marine security and within the framework of Eurasian integration, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the opening of talks with ASEAN Secretary General Kao Kim Hourn on Monday.
“We are in the midst of a substantive dialogue on launching new areas of our cooperation, including maritime security, combating pandemics, and dialogue on youth and customs issues,” Lavrov said.
“I would also like to ask you to share your assessments of the prospects for Eurasian integration, taking into account the contacts you had within the framework of the Kazan summit with the heads of the executive authorities of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,” he said.
“Promoting the strategic partnership with ASEAN is one of our permanent priorities in the Asian and Eurasian directions,” the top Russian diplomat said. “We see the association as a reliable partner with whom we share both long years of work on the international arena and an increasing number of practical projects being implemented and rolled out in practice,” Lavrov stressed.
Russia and ASEAN are united by the desire to form a more just and multipolar world order, including in the space of Greater Eurasia, he added.
