Settlers Besiege Palestinian Family for a Week, Troops Raid West Bank

RAMALLAH (Dispatches) --
Israeli forces launched raids across the occupied West Bank early Monday, kidnapping at least 20 Palestinians and wounding several others, while illegal Jewish settlers maintained a week-long siege on a Palestinian family’s home in the South Hebron (Al-Khalil) Hills with military complicity.
In the village of Wadi al-Rahim, settlers have prevented the Shinaran family — five adults and five children — from leaving their home for the past week, Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported. The siege began after settlers established an outpost at the entrance to the property.
“We are under curfew in our own home, like in prison,” one family member told Haaretz. Residents said settlers threaten them if they approach windows or the roof, and that Israeli soldiers deployed to the area have failed to intervene.
Video footage reportedly shows soldiers ‘praying’ alongside settlers and allowing them to play loud music outside the home.
Israeli forces have dismantled the outpost several times, but settlers have re-established it, at times with the assistance of soldiers, according to Haaretz.
Monday’s kidnaps spanned multiple governorates. In Jenin, forces abducted Jaber Saeed Jaradat and his son Yazan, along with four members of the Sa’abneh family in Fahma. In Nablus, former prisoner Ashraf Al-Kousa was kidnapped, while two sisters were among those kidnapped in Bethlehem.
In Qalqilya, Israeli forces raided the al-Naqqar neighborhood, and in Nablus, troops besieged a home in the al-Dahiya area before abducting a young man. One Palestinian was moderately wounded during a raid in Qabatiya, south of Jenin.
Israeli bulldozers also began demolishing homes belonging to 80 families in the village of al-Dhahiriya in the southern West Bank, according to local reports.
Settler violence continued across the territory. In the Ramallah area, settlers stormed the village of Barqa, touring provocatively and raiding Palestinian land in an attempt to expel farmers.
In Tubas, settlers erected structures and raised Israeli flags in the Einoun area, raising fears of a new settlement outpost.
The Palestinian Commission for Resisting the Wall and Settlements recorded 219 settler and military attacks since the start of October, including 136 incidents targeting olive harvesters.
