Iranian Deaf Athletes Win Three Gold Medals at Asian Championships
TEHRAN - Iranian athletes have delivered an outstanding performance by securing three gold medals at the Asian Deaf Athletics Championships in Malaysia on Wednesday.
Yashar Vaghar, won the gold medal in the 110m hurdles at the event.
As the Asian Deaf Athletics Championships continued on Wednesday, Yashar Vaghar secured the gold medal with a time of 15.97 seconds, simultaneously setting a new Asian record for the event.
In the 4x400m relay race, Ali Alizadeh won the men’s 800-meter race in 1:57.09, breaking the Asian record to claim the gold medal.
Alizadeh had also won a silver medal in the 1,500-meter race on Monday.
Iran’s Amir Hussein Zare also won gold in the discus throw, recording a distance of 46.97 meters to take the title.
On Tuesday and in the women’s 1500-meter race, Iranian athletes Sima Abdollahi and Zahra Chehreh-Alam finished fifth and sixth, clocking times of 5:22.75 and 5:33.65 minutes, respectively.
In 100-meter race, Hashem Yadegari claiming the bronze medal.
Meanwhile, Mehdi Vahidian finished fourth by a narrow margin, missing out on a medal.
Yadegari also secured another medal in the long jump event. Competing at the stadium in Penang, Malaysia, he achieved a distance of 7.06 meters to win the Asian bronze medal, marking his second podium finish of the day.
