Shahrzad Khoshnoudzadeh Named Iran’s Flagbearer at Aichi-Nagoya Closing Ceremony

THERAN - The 20th Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games concluded with Shahrzad Khoshnoudzadeh, a member of Iran’s national women’s jiu-jitsu team, serving as the flag-bearer during the closing ceremony.
The 20th Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games officially wrapped up with the closing ceremony. Shahrzad Khoshnoudzadeh carried the Iranian flag at the event, representing the country’s sports delegation.
The “Angels of Minab” delegation returned from the games with a total of 52 medals—19 gold, 18 silver, and 15 bronze—securing sixth place on the medal table.
In the previous edition (Hangzhou 2022), Iran had finished seventh with 13 gold, 21 silver, and 20 bronze medals; this time, the team achieved six additional gold medals and climbed one spot in the rankings.
Women’s sports also delivered an outstanding performance, ranging from gold medals won by Saghar Moradi (taekwondo) and the duo of Kimia Zarei and Zeinab Norouzi (rowing) to the historic first-ever Asian Games medal for Iranian women’s weightlifting, secured by Reyhaneh Karimi.
In the final standings, China emerged as the champion, while Japan finished as the runner-up.
