Yemeni Forces Capture Sama’a District, Jabal Habashi as Ta’izz Push Expands

SANA’A (Dispatches) -- Yemeni armed forces and local fighters continued their advance across multiple fronts in Ta’izz province on Saturday, capturing key areas as Saudi airstrikes intensified across the country, a senior Ansarullah official said.
Hazam al-Asad, a member of Ansarullah’s political bureau, stated in a post on X that Saudi airstrikes on civilian areas and facilities in Sana’a would not halt military operations or efforts by local forces to push remaining Saudi-backed formations out of Ta’izz province.
He stressed that attacks on civilian targets would not weaken the resolve of Yemeni forces to continue operations on several fronts.
Yemeni armed forces have made significant territorial gains in Ta’izz, capturing the Sama’a district southeast of the province and large areas of Jabal Habashi, including the strategic al-Anaqib area.
Local sources reported that citizens expelled Saudi-backed forces from villages in Jabal Habashi, forcing them to retreat toward the western districts.
Fighting has raged across several fronts, including highlands overlooking coastal areas seized by Yemeni forces in recent weeks.
The most intense confrontations were concentrated in rural areas stretching toward Yemen’s Red Sea coast, where Saudi-backed forces sought to halt Yemeni advances near the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
Reports indicated that Yemeni forces carried out operations targeting Saudi military leadership and Saudi-backed troop concentrations in Ta’izz, with Saudi airstrikes failing to halt the advance.
A spokesperson for the Sana’a government stated that the sole target of Yemeni Armed Forces operations is the “Saudi enemy and its troop concentrations,” reassuring residents of Ta’izz that protecting their lives and property remains the foremost objective.
Yemeni armed forces have continued cross-border retaliation against Saudi targets. Ansarullah claimed it launched several ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones at targets in Riyadh, including facilities belonging to Aramco in Yanbu.
Reports indicated flight disruptions at King Khalid International Airport amid explosions and smoke near the facility, though Saudi officials claimed defenses intercepted a missile fired toward Riyadh.
Saudi airstrikes have continued to target civilian infrastructure. On Saturday, Saudi aircraft struck near Al-Sabeen Maternity and Childhood Hospital in Sana’a during peak hours, causing extensive damage to hospital buildings, medical equipment, and vital life-saving devices.
The attack injured patients, companions, and medical staff, and caused panic among hundreds of pregnant women, premature infants, and visitors.
The National Commission for Human Rights condemned the attack as a full-fledged war crime and crime against humanity, noting that targeting hospitals violates Article 18 of the Fourth Geneva Convention and Articles 12 and 13 of Additional Protocol I.
Yemeni military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said Saudi forces had conducted 94 air and missile strikes across six provinces—Sana’a, Sa’ada, Ta’izz, Hajjah, Amran, and Ibb—in 24 hours, bringing the total to 1,350 since the current escalation began.
