TEHRAN – Iran’s Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad has said that a high-level webinar with Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev was held to discuss accelerating economic cooperation between the two countries.
On Tuesday, Paknejad announced that a webinar was held with Tsivilev within the framework of the Iran-Russia Joint Economic Cooperation Commission.
He said the meeting was held via videoconference on Monday with the participation of officials from both countries, and previously defined issues and programs under the joint commission were reviewed again.
Paknejad added that the meeting reviewed the commission’s previous achievements and decisions, while solutions were proposed to address existing obstacles and accelerate the implementation of agreements.
The Iran-Russia Joint Economic Cooperation Commission is a key mechanism for developing economic relations between the two countries, with issues including energy, investment, trade, and the implementation of joint projects being pursued within its framework.
And also, following a meeting with Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Paknejad said that the ground is well prepared for expanding energy and economic cooperation, adding that the two sides focused mainly on energy cooperation during the talks.
According to the oil minister, both sides agreed that the issues raised in the meeting would be pursued by joint working groups to achieve results.
The geographical location of the two neighboring countries, their access to regional energy markets, and Iran’s access to an extensive transmission network have provided grounds for expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
