U.S. Treasury Allows Iraqi Airways One Month of Najaf Flights
BAGHDAD (Dispatches) — Iraqi sources said the U.S. Treasury granted Iraq a one-month waiver to resume Iranian flights to Najaf, with longer exemptions merely possible.
Iraqi Airways announced the resumption via Najaf airport after Washington considered a limited sanctions exemption for Shia pilgrimage flights. Iraq’s ambassador said Najaf would reopen within 24 hours, crediting Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi’s “continuous efforts”.
