Four decades ago, a teen-aged seminary student adorned in military fatigues and a black turban to indicate his direct descent from Prophet Muhammad (SAWA), was amongst the thousands of young Iranian volunteers on the frontlines of the war imposed on the Islamic Republic by the US through Saddam of the repressive Ba’th minority regime of Baghdad.

What, however, set him apart from the rest of the Basijis was the fact that he was the son of the sitting president, although he neither prided over his connection nor disclosed it to everybody.

The courageous youngster, unafraid of the risk to his life and limbs from the enemy’s aerial bombing and artillery shells, is now a 57-year old full-fledged religious/political leader of the Islamic Republic, gallantly leading the struggle in the third US imposed war, despite injuries resulting from the cowardly bombing of his father’s office by the illegal Zionist entity.

The nation, in the 7-month of its historic defence of sovereignty and territorial integrity, is indeed indebted to Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hussaini Khamenei for his astute leadership similar to the dynamic qualities of his Martyred Father, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei (RA) who refused to seek a bunker when all other countrymen were exposed to the US-Israeli aggression.

The Leader’s latest message to the nation on the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the Holy Defence (during which he was active at the battlefronts) and the 2nd anniversary of the martyrdom of the great Seyyed Hassan Nasrollah, the Secretary-General of Lebanon’s legendry anti-terrorist movement, the Hezbollah, is indeed inspirational – not just for the Iranian people but for the entire Axis of Resistance and for conscientious people throughout the world.

The following few paragraphs are indicative of his insight, foresight, and farsightedness:

“The days before triumph of the Islamic Revolution were dark days, when ambassadors of the arrogant powers would convey their orders to the Pahlavi potentate, who would implement them willingly or unwillingly”.

“In those days, two waterways in southern Iran were once a ‘playground’ for enemy forces, but today they no longer venture beyond the Arabian Sea given the painful blows they have received from brave Iranian fighters and the defenders of the Strait of Hormuz.”

“For that phoenix which rose from the ashes of the first imposed war has now, as a result of the enemy’s pressure and particularly the two most recent imposed wars, grown so large that the shadow of its flight has extended even over the lands of the enemy.”
