TEHRAN -- Iran has inaugurated 246 tourism projects with a combined investment approximately $205 million, creating 3,200 jobs, as the country marks its Tourism Week.
President Masoud Pezeshkian opened the projects online during a ceremony in Razavi Khorasan Province, attended by Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Reza Salehi Amiri, and Governor-General of Razavi Khorasan Gholam-Hussein Mozaffari.
The projects represent a total investment of 35 trillion tomans, equivalent to approximately $205 million at an exchange rate of 171,000 tomans to the dollar.
Salehi Amiri said the latest openings form part of a broader program to expand Iran’s tourism infrastructure. Over the past two years, he said, 1,471 tourism projects have been implemented across the country, representing total investment of 132 trillion tomans and generating 19,000 direct jobs.
The minister said 128 projects were also inaugurated during Government Week, while a third round of tourism-project openings is planned for the Ten-Day Dawn celebrations, which mark the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Salehi Amiri said continued investment and completion of infrastructure projects remained central to the government’s tourism-development plans, with private-sector participation playing a key role in expanding facilities and employment.
He also emphasized the importance of investors continuing to operate in Iran, saying major domestic investors remained committed to activity inside the country.
The ceremony included reports from provincial officials on tourism development and the progress of related projects. Governors from South Khorasan, Razavi Khorasan, East Azerbaijan, Gilan and Isfahan joined the ceremony online, while officials from Tehran and Ilam attended in person.
The latest openings come as Iran seeks to expand its tourism infrastructure through public and private investment.
