TEHRAN - Iran’s national men’s volleyball team secured a commanding straight-sets victory over Thailand on Monday, maintaining an unblemished record in the preliminary stage of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.
Led by head coach Roberto Piazza, the Iranian squad dominated proceedings from the outset to seal a 3-0 sweep (25-18, 25-18, 25-15) in a fixture that got underway at 10:30 AM local time.
Iran’s starting lineup featured captain Amin Esmaeilnezhad, Poriya Hossein Khanzadeh, Seyed Eisa Naseri, Muhammad Valizadeh, Arshia Behnezhad, Ali Haghparast, and libero Hossein Haji Kalateh.
The victory follows Iran’s opening 3-0 sweep against Kyrgyzstan, solidifying their position atop their preliminary group standings.
The national team will wrap up their pool-play campaign on Tuesday, September 29, when they face Indonesia.
