TEHRAN - Iran’s national men’s 3x3 basketball team kicked off their campaign at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya on Tuesday with two consecutive victories against China and Hong Kong.
On the third day of the Nagoya Asian Games, the Iranian men’s squad took to the court for two back-to-back group-stage fixtures.
In their opening match, the Iranian players delivered a solid and coordinated performance to overcome a formidable Chinese side 18-15.
The national team maintained their winning momentum in the second encounter against Hong Kong, securing a 16-11 victory to cement a dominant start to the tournament.
Iran will take on Malaysia in their third preliminary group-stage match on Wednesday at 13:25.
Coached by Mohammad Sistani, the Iranian roster at the Games comprises Seyed Mohammad Ghaffari, Mohammad Basir Momeni, Sarem Jafari, and Mohammad Mehdi Rahimi.
On Monday, Iran’s women’s 3x3 basketball team also notched two valuable wins against Uzbekistan and tournament hosts Japan, marking a stellar overall run for Iranian basketball in Nagoya.
