TEHRAN – Iran produced the standout results in round three of the Women’s Chess Olympiad on Saturday, defeating higher-seeded France. 
Iran joined a 20-team leading group on 6/6 match points. 
Iran’s women’s chess team achieved one of the significant results of the third round of the 46th Chess Olympiad in Samarkand by defeating France 3–1. 
In the third round of the competition, the Iranian women’s national team faced France, securing a 3–1 victory through two wins and two draws.
Melika Muhammadi and Mobina Alinasab defeated their respective opponents, while Anousha Mahdian and Mitra Asgharzadeh played to draws.
In the men’s division, the Iranian national team played to a 2–2 draw against Belgium. Muhammad Amin Tabatabaei and Reza Mahdavi won their respective matches.
The 46th Chess Olympiad is taking place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from September 16 to 27, with both the Iranian men’s and women’s national teams participating in the event.
