Iran’s Flag Raised at Games Village

TEHRAN - A welcome and flag-raising ceremony for the Iranian sports delegation was held at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games Village on Friday.
 On the eve of the official start of the 20th Asian Games, a welcome and flag-raising ceremony for the Islamic Republic of Iran took place in the International Zone of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Village.
The ceremony was attended by the Games Village Mayor and a representative of the Organizing Committee, acting as hosts, Asghar Rahimi,  the head of the Iranian delegation, deputy heads of the delegation, and members of the delegation’s administrative and medical staff.
During the event, following an official welcome for the Iranian sports team, the flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran was raised at the designated site within the Village, marking the official presence of the Iranian delegation at the 20th Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Welcome ceremonies for Asian sports delegations are part of the official program of the Aichi-Nagoya Games Organizing Committee and are held for participating nations’ delegations in the days leading up to the opening ceremony.
Asghar Rahimi represented the Islamic Republic of Iran at the ceremony and, alongside administrative and medical staff, witnessed the raising of the national flag at the Games Village.
With the conclusion of this ceremony, the official presence of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s sports delegation at the 20th Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games was formally marked at the Games Village. The 20th Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games will officially begin on Saturday, September 19, 2026, and continue until October 4.
