Flare Gas Projects Set for Staged Launch
TEHRAN – Ramin Hatami, CEO of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC), said staged commissioning of flare gas recovery projects in the Aghajari operational area will begin in November, with efforts underway to bring some projects online before the cold season.
Speaking at a meeting to review priority flare gas recovery projects, Hatami said projects that had been halted for a period have been reactivated and accelerated following a review of priorities and cooperation among NISOC, Bidboland Persian Gulf Gas Refinery Co. and contractors.
A significant portion of the projects has now reached the final stages of implementation, and commissioning is scheduled to begin in November in phases, he said.
Once the planned projects are operational, they will enable the recovery of about 130 million to 140 million cubic feet of gas per day, Hatami said. The projects will create economic value, help complete the oil industry’s value chain and contribute to meeting the country’s gas needs during the colder months.
Hatami stressed the need to speed up completion of the projects, saying the goal is to bring stations nearing completion into operation in December by intensifying work, allowing the country to benefit from greater gas recovery during the winter.
The projects will not only reduce gas flaring but also enable the economically productive use of associated gas and improve utilization of these resources, he said.
