TEHRAN — Iranian Parliament Speaker Muhammad Bagher Ghalibaf has hailed a “knockout” blow to the United States after the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy captured of a highly advanced U.S. unmanned underwater vehicle near the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Ghalibaf made the remarks in a post on X on Tuesday night, sharing an image that portrayed the IRGC Navy as having surprised and captured the United States’ “most advanced” unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV). The image also described the U.S. Navy’s UUV program as “knocked out.”
Using a comic-style illustration, Ghalibaf’s post depicted IRGC personnel appearing alongside U.S. equipment, while emphasizing Iran’s surveillance and control over the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
“Well, it seems the most modern U.S. intelligent UUV just had a ‘knock’ on its door…from the IRGC Navy,” the post read.
Earlier in the day, the IRGC Navy announced that it had successfully intercepted and captured a highly advanced, unmanned U.S. underwater vehicle at the entrance to the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The captured system was identified as a Dive-LD, an autonomous unmanned underwater vehicle developed by U.S. defense technology company Anduril Industries and first delivered to the U.S. Navy’s Unmanned Undersea Vehicle Group 1 in 2025. 

The system is approximately 5.8 meters long, about 1.2 meters in diameter, and weighs roughly 2.7 tons, with an endurance of up to 10 days underwater and a maximum operating depth of around 6,000 meters.
The capture marks the latest in Iran’s interception and seizure of advanced Western military technology. 
Over the past decade, Iranian forces have successfully downed or captured numerous high-value U.S. assets, including the RQ-170 Sentinel stealth drone, MQ-9 Reaper drones, and various underwater gliders and surface vessels in the Persian Gulf. 
Reverse-engineering these captured technologies has played a significant role in accelerating Iran’s domestic drone and unmanned naval programs.
Speaking on Tuesday evening, IRGC spokesman Brigadier General Hussein Mohebbi said the capture demonstrated that advanced technology could not penetrate Iran’s surveillance layers in the Strait of Hormuz.
“Dominance over the Persian Gulf belongs to our young technology specialists,” Mohebbi stressed.
The spokesman subsequently addressed the United States directly, saying, “Go back to the Bay of Pigs” in reference to the failed Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba in April 1961.
