TEHRAN – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has attacked a U.S. aircraft carrier, a destroyer, and a remotely operated vessel (ROV) belonging to the American military in the Strait of Hormuz, as Iran continues to assert control over the strategic waterway in response to U.S. violations of a ceasefire agreement.
The IRGC Aerospace Force launched several ballistic missiles at the aircraft carrier and destroyer, which had been “harassing Iranian vessels and participating in the naval blockade,” according to a statement. 
“After sustaining damage and fearing another reprisal, the two warships were forced to flee the area of engagement,” the IRGC said.
The terrorist U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) acknowledged that the vessels had come under “multiple” Iranian strikes. The IRGC hailed CENTCOM’s acknowledgment as “living evidence of the enemy’s strategic defeat” and “proof of the IRGC’s offensive capabilities”.
In a separate operation, the IRGC Navy said it targeted a remotely operated vessel belonging to the U.S. military that was attempting to enter the protected area of the Strait of Hormuz. 
“With the grace and favor of Almighty God, every desperate move by the enemy is being closely monitored by brave, self-sacrificing IRGC Navy forces and will be met with a decisive attack,” the IRGC said in a statement.
The latest attacks follow an announcement by the IRGC Navy that it had struck three U.S.-linked vessels and three trespassing oil tankers in retaliation for earlier American attacks on Iranian tankers. 
“This morning, the terrorist and aggressor U.S. military, in a brutal act born of desperation from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, attacked three oil tankers belonging to the Islamic Republic, causing damage,” the force said in a statement on Saturday.
In response, “the fighters of the IRGC Navy targeted three oil tankers traveling along an unauthorized route through the Strait of Hormuz, as well as three vessels affiliated with the child-killing United States, in other areas,” it added.
The IRGC warned vessels against buying into Washington’s claims that the strait remains open, asserting that any vessel attempting to transit the waterway in reliance on such claims would be targeted. 
“Do not be deceived by the ‘terrorist’ U.S. military and refrain from any suspicious movement aimed at passing through unauthorized waterways. Otherwise, you will be targeted,” the IRGC Navy said.
The IRGC also released previously unreported footage of its operations in the Strait of Hormuz, displaying “decisive management of the waterway” by its Navy. The footage shows the IRGC Navy conducting close surveillance of and engaging non-compliant vessels on several occasions.
The footage initially featured clips of U.S. President Donald Trump, U.S. war secretary Pete Hegseth, and CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper respectively claiming the strait to be “open,” alleging Washington’s “control” over the waterway, and the American military’s having cleared mines. 
The IRGC accompanied the release with a firm warning: “The United States is the greatest threat to the security of regional countries and maritime trade; U.S. support and escort operations are nothing but a big lie!” 
Iran restricted transit through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway responsible for a fifth of global oil demand, to hostile vessels following the launch of U.S.-Israeli aggression against the country on February 28. 
On June 17, Tehran and Washington signed a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding (MoU) that placed responsibility for reopening and managing the strait in Iran’s hands. However, the U.S. resumed aerial assaults and imposed a naval blockade in violation of the deal, prompting Iran to declare the strait closed to all traffic.
Tehran has conditioned reopening of the waterway on complete lifting of the U.S. naval and economic blockade, a durable cessation of aggression on all fronts—including Lebanon—and clarification of the situation concerning the blockade of Yemen.
The IRGC has warned that continued U.S. military action would trigger “devastating responses” from Iran’s armed forces. 
“We are standing stronger than ever. Victory belongs to the resilient people of Islamic Iran, while defeat and regret are the inevitable fate of the aggressors,” it said.
