TEHRAN - The Iranian Under 20 football team has secured its place in the next stage of the Asian Cup qualifiers with a victory over Vietnam.
The Iranian team played its last match in Group C of the Asian Cup U-20 qualifiers at Viet Tri Stadium on Sunday and advanced to the next stage to face China with a 3-1 victory.
The Persians defeated Palestine 2-1 in their first match in this stage and were defeated by North Korea with the same result in the second match. With a 3-1 victory in today’s match, they gained 6 points and finally reached the U-20 Cup as one of the second-best teams.
In the 50th minute, after Amir Muhammad Karimi’s long throw-in and Erfan Khodadadian’s impact with a header, Muhammad Mehdi Jannia gave the ball to Arian Moali, who scored Iran’s equalizer with a precise shot from in front of the goal.
In the 61st minute, after the Vietnamese goalkeeper fouled Mehdi Cheshmbarah, the referee awarded Iran a penalty. Mahan Beheshti stood behind the ball and scored Iran’s second goal with a precise shot into the right corner of the goal.
In the 90th minute+3, Abolfazl Zadeh-Attar, after receiving a penalty from an opponent player, stood behind the ball himself and scored Iran’s third goal by sending the ball to the right of the goal, contrary to the direction of the Vietnamese goalkeeper’s movement.
