TEHRAN - Direct flights between Iran and Tunisia resumed on Saturday from Imam Khomeini International Airport, according to the airport’s chief executive.
Ramin Kashef-Azar, CEO of Imam Khomeini Airport City, said the Tehran-Tunis route has been restored as part of efforts to expand and strengthen Iran’s international flight network.
Flight MRJ4843 departed Imam Khomeini International Airport for Tunis at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, he said.
The route will currently operate once a week on Saturdays.
Kashef-Azar said the flight had previously operated on Fridays, with the final service under the previous schedule taking place on July 10.
“With the resumption of the route, Tehran-Tunis flights have returned to the airport’s network under a new Saturday schedule,” he said.
He added that expanding destinations and strengthening air links with other countries remain priorities for Imam Khomeini Airport City.
Kashef-Azar said the resumption of the route could facilitate passenger travel and help strengthen tourism and economic ties between Iran and Tunisia.
The development comes after direct flights between Iran and Vietnam were launched last week as part of broader efforts to diversify international destinations.
