TEHRAN -- Two Iranian short films, High Copy and Chavak, have been selected for three international film festivals in the United Kingdom, Russia and the United States.
High Copy, written and directed by Muhammad Rahmati and produced by Seyyed Muhammadreza Homayi, has been selected for the 31st Portobello Film Festival in London, which will take place from September 3 to 20.
Produced by the Iranian Youth Cinema Society, the short previously received the Best Adapted Screenplay award and an honorable mention for Best Adapted Short Film at the 42nd Tehran International Short Film Festival.
High Copy tells the story of Zohreh, a young woman who becomes involved in an unexpected situation concerning her friend after returning from a party. The incident places her before a difficult and challenging decision.
The film stars Elham Korda, Reyhaneh Darabi, Mehdi Heydari, Amir Mohtasham, Farzan Shams and Shayli Shams.
Chavak, a short animated film written and directed by Hejyr Asadi, has been selected for the 22nd Kazan International Film Festival Altyn Minbar in Russia and the 10th New York Kurdish Film Festival.
The Kazan International Film Festival Altyn Minbar will be held from September 4 to 8. The New York Kurdish Film Festival will run from September 29 to October 4.
Chavak was produced by Sina Ayubi, Hejyr Asadi and Afsaaneh Ghorbani. The animation follows a middle-aged projectionist who has spent years living among people whose faces are distorted. After years of isolation, he encounters his adolescent love again.
The two selections extend the international festival presence of Iranian short cinema and animation this autumn, bringing High Copy to London and Chavak to festivals in Russia and the United States.
