TEHRAN - Iran’s men’s wheelchair basketball team defeated Poland 72-66 in its second match at a three-team international tournament underway in Turkey.
- Iran faced Poland on Saturday and secured a six-point victory to register its first win of the tournament.
The Iranian team had earlier faced host Turkey in its opening match, suffering a 69-61 defeat.
The international men’s wheelchair basketball tournament will continue in Turkey until August 27.
Iran’s squad for the tournament consists of Reza Neysirat, Mohammad Mohammadnejad, Abolfazl Gharanjik, Vahid Saadatpour, Mohsen Tolouei, Amirreza Ahmadi, Mehdi Abbasi, Morteza Abedi, Taha Yarmohammadi, Mohammad Hassan Sayyari, Omid Hadi Azhar and Vahid Gholamazad.
Reza Soltani is serving as head coach of the Iranian team.
The tournament is part of Iran’s preparations for the Men’s Wheelchair Basketball World Championships in Canada, which will be held from September 9 to 19.
Iran made history at the previous edition of the World Championships by finishing third for the first time and securing a quota place for Asia at the Paris Paralympic Games.
