Ahmadlou, Zarei Claim Gold, Silver at Azerbaijan Junior Badminton Open

TEHRAN - Iranian badminton players Amir Ali Ahmadlou and Aysan Zarei have secured impressive gold and silver medals, respectively, at the Azerbaijan Junior Badminton Open, marking a significant performance aimed at boosting their international experience and world rankings.
The Azerbaijan Junior Badminton Open concluded with standout performances from Iranian representatives, as Amir Ali Ahmadlou bagged a gold medal and Aysan Zarei earned silver, securing valuable results for Iran’s badminton.
The tournament featured players from Iran, the United States, Azerbaijan, India, Turkey, Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Georgia competing at a high technical level.
In the boys’ division, Ahmadlou entered the tournament ranked 73rd in the junior world rankings. He navigated through opponents from the United States and Azerbaijan to reach the final, where he defeated the host country’s representative to claim the championship title and the gold medal.
Ahmadlou’s triumph comes as he is one of Iran’s selected athletes for the Dakar Youth Olympic Games. His participation in the tournament was part of a preparation program to gain international experience and enhance his technical level ahead of the major event.
In the girls’ division, Zarei, who was ranked 483rd in the junior world rankings at the start of the tournament, delivered a stellar performance to reach the final. After defeating several opponents, including a representative from the UAE, she faced another UAE player of Indian origin in the final match. Despite a commendable effort, she fell short and settled for the silver medal.
Following the points earned from this tournament, both players are set to see an improvement in their positions in the upcoming BWF junior world rankings.
