TEHRAN – Iranian Minister of Agriculture Gholamreza Nouri and Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi discussed the latest developments in bilateral relations and ways to expand economic and transit cooperation during Nouri’s visit to Afghanistan.
During the meeting in Kabul, the two sides reviewed the latest state of relations between Iran and Afghanistan and explored avenues for expanding economic and transit cooperation.
They also stressed the need to make better use of existing capacities to broaden bilateral interactions and facilitate trade and economic ties.
The two officials also discussed holding the 7th meeting of the Iran-Afghanistan Joint Economic Commission and highlighted the body’s role in following up on agreements, removing obstacles to cooperation and creating new opportunities for expanding economic relations.
Muttaqi expressed satisfaction with the progress made in practical economic and transit cooperation between the two countries, stressing that further capacities and opportunities exist for expanding such ties.
Nouri, for his part, pointed to the extensive potential of Iran and Afghanistan for developing economic relations and emphasized the implementation of bilateral agreements and strengthening joint cooperation within the framework of the Joint Economic Commission.
Earlier, Iranbina minister had met with Afghan Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi in Kabul to discuss facilitating mutual exports, improving transit routes, and strengthening bilateral economic ties.
During his visit to the Afghan capital, the Iranian minister also held a roundtable with traders, business representatives, and economic operatives to review existing capacities and structural challenges in bilateral trade. Discussions centered on agricultural cooperation, heavy machinery, product trade, and establishing direct linkages between business associations.
