Festival Opens Documentary Call on Martyr Leader’s Funeral

TEHRAN -- The 19th International Resistance Film Festival has issued an open call inviting documentary filmmakers to submit works focusing on the farewell and funeral ceremonies of “Aghay-e Shahid of Iran.”
According to the festival organizers, submissions are being accepted in two categories—short documentaries and feature-length documentaries—and should explore different dimensions of what organizers describe as a national public event.
The festival said the initiative will provide production funding for the three highest-ranked documentary projects. In addition, 10 selected works will receive a special festival award, while a separate “Martyr Imam” special prize will also be presented. Selected films will gain direct entry into a dedicated section of the festival and will be screened in special showcase sessions.
Suggested themes include documenting public participation in the ceremonies, capturing significant moments from the farewell events, examining their social and cultural dimensions, assessing domestic and international reactions, and highlighting the role of women during the ceremonies.
Filmmakers have until August 6 in the Iranian calendar to submit their works to the festival secretariat. Further submission details are available through the festival’s official Telegram channel, @resistancefilmfest.
