TEHRAN – Iran’s judiciary chief announced on Monday that an interim leadership council has been swiftly formed following the martyrdom of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, stressing that the Islamic Republic’s structured governance system faces no deadlock or disruption.
Gholamhussein Mohseni-Ejei, who also serves as a member of the newly formed council, told official news agency IRNA that the body was established rapidly in accordance with Article 111 of the Iranian constitution. He said the council is holding regular meetings and carrying out its mandated duties with deliberation.
“According to Article 111 of the Constitution, the interim leadership council was quickly formed and relevant meetings are being held regularly,” Mohseni-Ejei said. “This council, with prudence and reflection, pursues the affairs and tasks assigned to it.”
The judiciary chief explained that the council is undertaking necessary actions regarding the responsibilities outlined in the constitution, which delineates the powers and duties of the leadership.
Mohseni-Ejei extended condolences for the martyrdom of Imam Khamenei, whom he described as the “true deputy of Imam al-Asr (the hidden Imam),” and for the martyrdoms of his relatives, military commanders, security forces, and ordinary citizens martyred in the ongoing war. He specifically mourned the martyrdom of female students at a school in Minab by “aggressive Americans and Zionists.”
The judiciary chief addressed the psychological warfare being waged by Iran’s enemies, warning that they and their affiliates would intensify their efforts to spread discord.
“The enemy and his megaphones and affiliates will certainly sing more discordant tunes in the current situation,” Mohseni-Ejei said. “Therefore, we must be very careful that, God forbid, no harmony with the enemy arises inside and no one is influenced by the enemy’s insinuations.”
He praised the Iranian people’s presence on the scene following the leader’s martyrdom, stating that their motivation for creating epics, unity and solidarity has doubled. He quoted the late leader’s belief that such public presence discourages the enemy.
“The treacherous, aggressive and bloodthirsty enemy is more afraid and fearful of this stunning popular presence on the scene than it is of our crushing missiles and drones,” he said.
