Iran, Belarus Agree on Joint Production of Agricultural Machinery
TEHRAN – Iran’s Minister of Agriculture Gholamreza Nouri Qezeljeh and Belarus’ Industry Minister Andrei Kuznetsov have reached an agreement on the joint production of agricultural machinery and potash fertilizer.
The two sides reviewed the expansion of bilateral cooperation in agriculture, forestry, veterinary medicine, and plant and animal quarantine.
They agreed that Iran would supply some of Belarus’s food needs, and in return, Iran would import the required agricultural raw materials from Belarus.
Iran expressed its readiness to transit Belarusian agricultural products to other countries.
According to this agreement, a portion of the potassium fertilizer will be imported from Belarus, and part of its production chain will be processed domestically.
Given Belarus’s industrial capabilities, an agreement was reached to jointly supply heavy agricultural machinery, including tractors, combine harvesters, trucks, and very heavy trucks, in cooperation with Iranian companies such as Iran Tractor Manufacturing Company.
On Tuesday, Vice President Muhammad Reza Aref, in a meeting with the visiting Belarusian Industry Minister, said that Iran is keen to enhance trade, economic, and industrial interaction with the Republic of Belarus.
The vice president stated that expanding collaboration in various fields, given the “very good” political relations between the two nations, is one of the strategic priorities of Iran. He added that the successful convening of the 18th meeting of the Iran-Belarus Joint Commission provides a valuable opportunity to advance comprehensive ties.
The visiting industry minister, for his part, said Belarus is fully prepared to expand cooperation with Iran across various fields. He noted that the 18th meeting of the joint commission and the agreements reached there could help reinforce economic ties.
Iran and Belarus hold closely aligned positions in international forums and participate together in several regional organizations, Aref stated, stressing that commercial and economic exchanges should be increased by strengthening the joint commission’s activities.
