Atousa Golshadnejad Wins First-Ever Gold at World Karate Championships

TEHRAN - Iranian athlete Atousa Golshadnejad claimed a historic gold medal at 2025 World Karate Championships, marking the country’s first-ever women’s gold on Sunday in Cairo, Egypt. 
In the -61kg final of the World Karate Championship, Atousa Golshadnejad made a thrilling performance and defeated her Chinese opponent, Li Kang, 4-2, and won the first gold medal for Iranian women in a world competition. 
In −50 kg category, Sara Bahmanyar claimed a bronze medal at the 2025 Championships on Sunday.
Bah3manyar defeated Ecuador’s Lili Alvarado 3-0 in the bronze medal match of the Female Kumite −50 kg.
Gulshan Alimardanova of Uzbekistan defeated her American rival Shahmalarani Chandran in the gold medal match, according to Tehran Times. 
Iran’s Saleh Abazari was expected to take to the tatami in the men’s +84 kg final to compete for the gold medal against Matteo Avanzini, the leading representative of Italy.
The competition takes place in Cairo, Egypt from Nov. 27 to 30.
