Tehran Art Fair Showcases Paper Art From 41 Galleries
TEHRAN -- The inaugural
edition of “Tehran Art Fair,” with a special focus on paper as its primary medium, will open on December 4 at the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults.
According to the Art Galleries Association, which is organizing the event, Open Paper will feature presentations from 41 galleries from Tehran and other cities, along with two visual arts associations and four publishers active in the field. The logo for the fair has been designed by prominent Iranian artist Muhammad Ehsaei.
Running from December 4 to 10, the exhibition marks the first installment of a larger series of art-focused events under the banner of “Tehran Art Fair,” scheduled to continue through 2026.
Open Paper will showcase a wide range of paper-based artworks, including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, illustration, translated art books, artist books, and small-scale sculptures such as papier-mâché pieces. Organizers say the event aims to strengthen Iran’s art market, support artists across different generations, and encourage economic growth within the cultural sector.
The fair also seeks to provide an important platform for discovering new talent, introducing fresh artistic approaches, and facilitating direct engagement between visitors and participating galleries.
“Open Paper” serves as the first phase of the multi-part Tehran Art Fair initiative, which will expand with additional specialized events through 2026.
