Hydropower Plants Produce 2,850 Gigawatt in Six Months

THERN - Director of production planning and water and electricity market affairs at the Iranian Water and Power Development Company Seyyed Hassan Alavi said on Sunday that the hydropower plants have produced 2,850 gigawatt hours of clean electricity since the beginning of this year.
Alavi said, it is expected that another 1,000 gigawatts will be added to this production by the end of the year, and that hydroelectric power plants will have a total production of about 4,000 gigawatts of electricity.
He considered the Water and Power Development Company to be the builder of the country’s hydroelectric power plants and continued, so far, 13,000 megawatts of hydroelectric power plants have been built, some of which have been made available to regional power companies.
He added the Water and Power Development Company manages six power plants and said, the small units of the Chamshir Dam power plant are currently in operation, and efforts are being made to have its large units enter operation by the end of the year.
