Persepolis Eye Spanish Player Sergio Reguilon
TEHRAN - The FC Persepolis are closely monitoring Spanish defender Sergio Reguilon, as part of the club’s strategy to strengthen the squad’s flanks ahead of the upcoming season.
Persepolis still having 2 vacancies on its roster, and therefore the Reds are trying to complete their roster for the 25th league by buying two free agents.
The team’s head coach Vahid Hashemian said Persepolis are looking to sign a left-back who can play in several positions. We previously wrote that Hashemian has given the green light to sign Sergio Reguilon, a Spanish defender who has played for Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Tottenham, and the Reds have entered into negotiations with these Spanish players.
Persepolis’ managers have offered the 30-year-old Spanish defender a 2-year contract worth $2.5 million. Persepolis will wait for the Spanish defender’s response within the next 48 hours and then move on to their other option.
Reguilón is a graduate of Real Madrid’s youth academy. He made his senior debut in August 2015, while on loan at Logroñés. Reguilón made his first-team debut for Real Madrid in October 2018. He spent the 2019–20 season on loan at Sevilla, where he won the UEFA Europa League and was named in the Squad of the Season. Reguilón signed for Tottenham Hotspur in September 2020.
