TEHRAN - Iranian sumo team has won two bronze medals in the Asian championships in Bangkok.
The Iranian national sumo team, consisting of four athletes, competed in the individual section.
 Ahmadreza Shakiba won the Asian bronze medal in the -85 kg weight category by defeating opponents from Chinese Taipei, India and Uzbekistan and losing to the representative of Japan. Also, Muhammad Hassan Rahimi won the second bronze medal for the Iranian national team in the +115 kg weight category after defeating opponents from Kyrgyzstan and Sri Lanka and losing to the representative of Mongolia.
In the following World Championships, our national team qualified for the team stage by winning seven individual matches against Egypt, Hungary, Australia, India, Italy, and Sri Lanka.
