TEHRAN -- Iran has condemned the EU’s double standards regarding Israel’s continued aggression against Syria, pledging unwavering support for the Syrian people, as well as the country’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In a post on his X account, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei sharply criticized the EU for a complete abandonment of “moral integrity” in its handling of Israeli attacks. The EU had described Israel’s latest military actions merely as “escalating strikes” on Syrian territory.
“This is gaslighting at its finest: dressing ‘complicity’ up as ‘diplomacy’,” Baghaei wrote.
He emphasized Iran’s proud history of standing firm against aggression and lawlessness, stressing that the Islamic Republic rejects selective indignation and double standards.
Baghaei reaffirmed Iran’s steadfast support for Syria, stating that the country will continue to defend Syria’s sovereignty and territorial unity “loud and clear.”
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the Israeli military has occupied several towns and areas south of Damascus, with troops and tanks positioned approximately 10 kilometers from the outskirts of the Syrian capital. The developments have raised alarms amid growing instability in the region.
Israel’s latest wave of airstrikes has drawn widespread condemnation from regional and international actors. 
On Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also condemned the attacks, calling them “reckless and aggressive,” and referred to Israel as a “rabid regime” that “only understands the language of force.”
