Afghanistan-Iran Business Opportunities Conference Held in Tehran

TEHRAN - A conference focused on exploring trade and investment opportunities between Afghanistan and Iran was held in Tehran. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, the event was attended by Iranian business leaders, producers, economic stakeholders, members of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly, and an Afghan delegation led by Deputy Minister Mawlawi Sadr Azam Osmani.
Discussions centered on the economic potential of both countries, investment prospects, and existing challenges. Deputy Minister Osmani emphasized the importance of joint agricultural cooperation and stated that Afghanistan seeks to increase investment opportunities in agriculture and livestock to expand its presence in regional and international markets.
He noted that collaboration in these areas could strengthen bilateral ties and serve as a foundation for long-term development. Osmani also highlighted the progress of Iranian agricultural technology and its potential benefits for Afghanistan through experience and equipment transfer.
He underscored the private sector’s key role in economic growth and called on Iranian and international investors to invest in various sectors of Afghanistan, especially agriculture and livestock, noting that the Islamic Emirate has facilitated the necessary support for investors.
Abdulsadeh Neysi, Director General for the Indian Subcontinent at Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization, also emphasized Afghanistan’s strategic importance in Iran’s economic plans. He mentioned a goal of increasing bilateral trade to $10 billion.
