IRGC Unveils Missile Megacity in Message to Enemies
TEHRAN – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has unveiled a new missile city, showcasing a variety of domestically produced missiles, after U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of bombing Iran if it doesn’t submit to American demands.
The unveiling featured senior military figures, including Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Muhammad Bagheri and commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force Amirali Hajizadeh at an undisclosed underground facility.
Reports identified various missile types at the location, including the Kheibar Shekan, Haj Qassem, Ghadr H, Sejjil, and Emad.
“Iran’s iron fist is far stronger today than before,” Gen. Bagheri said during the tour.
“All the dimensions that are required for generating a capability that is ten times stronger than the one deployed during Operation True Promise II, has been created,” the commander added.
Last year, the Islamic Republic demonstrated its military might with Operation True Promise I and II, retaliatory strikes launched in response to Israeli aggression.
The operations carried out using hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones showcased Iran’s ability to strike Israeli military and intelligence targets with surgical accuracy.
Iranian officials have underscored that the country only deployed a fraction of its firepower during the dual reprisal.
Bagheri said the pace at which the Islamic Republic is developing its defensive might is far faster than the pace of the enemies’ recuperation.
Gen. Hajizadeh has previously stated that Iran possesses hundreds of such underground missile sites across the country, a number so vast that unveiling one per week would take two years.
Iran has long prioritized the development of its missile program, which it views as a crucial deterrent.
On Thursday, President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran seeks no war with any country, but is determined to defend itself against any aggression.
“We seek no war with any country, but will also not hesitate to defend ourselves. And our readiness and capability in this regard is at the highest level,” he told Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman over phone.
Iran, Pezeshkian said, is ready to engage in dialogue “based on mutual interest and respect” aimed at easing tensions.
On Wednesday, Pezeshkian reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to strengthening ties with Islamic and neighboring countries in a phone conversation with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan and Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad Al-Jaber al-Sabah.
Kuwait’s emir praised Tehran’s constructive approach toward building stronger connections with neighboring and friendly nations.
He said regional and international tensions should be resolved through dialogue, stressing that Kuwait will not allow any country to use its territory in hostile acts against other countries.
