Iran Calls for Emergency OIC Meeting on Gaza
TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign
Minister Abbas Araghchi has urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to convene an emergency ministerial meeting to address a U.S.-Israeli plan for the forced displacement of Gazans.
In a phone call with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Araghchi discussed regional developments, particularly the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and Gaza.
Araghchi condemned the U.S.-Israeli scheme to forcibly relocate Gaza’s population to other countries, calling it an extension of a colonialist effort to erase Palestine. He stressed the need for decisive global action to counter and reject this plan.
Referring to recent remarks by the Zionist prime minister suggesting the establishment of a Palestinian state in Saudi territory, Araghchi denounced the statement as an unprecedented display of Israeli expansionism and a direct threat to regional peace and security.
Highlighting his consultations with foreign ministers of Islamic nations, Araghchi noted their support for a serious OIC initiative against a joint U.S.-Israeli attempt to eliminate Palestine. He urged the international community, particularly regional and Islamic nations, to take urgent measures to prevent the normalization of genocide and lawlessness by the Israeli regime. He reiterated that an extraordinary OIC ministerial meeting was essential to addressing the issue.
For his part, the Saudi foreign minister reaffirmed Riyadh’s firm opposition to any plan for the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza. He also expressed support for Iran’s proposal to convene an OIC ministerial meeting to establish a unified stance against the U.S.-Israeli scheme.
Algeria has also welcomed a proposal by Iran to convene a meeting of Islamic countries on the war-torn Gaza Strip.
Araghchi provided a report on his recent consultations with Islamic countries, the OIC secretary general, and the United Nations chief to mobilize the global community against the “ethnic cleansing conspiracy in Gaza.”
The Iranian foreign minister also praised Algeria’s “principled stance in supporting the Palestinian people’s resistance for self-determination and liberation from the Zionist regime’s occupation.”
Araghchi described the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza as part of a colonial plan to “erase Palestine” and strongly condemned it, calling for “a unified and decisive stance on the part of the international community and Islamic countries against this dangerous conspiracy.”
The Algerian foreign minister also reaffirmed his country’s firm opposition to the plan to expel Gaza’s residents from their ancestral land.
Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General Farhan Haq has reacted to the U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to displace Palestinians from Gaza and said that the United Nations is against forced displacement of the Palestinians.
In response to a question about Hamas decision to postpone release of the Israeli prisoners due to the breach of ceasefire agreement by the Israeli regime, he said that
the UN urges both sides to fulfill their obligations on the basis of a ceasefire agreement.
The Palestinian Resistance Committees in a statement announced that Trump’s remarks about the Gaza Strip and its inhabitants shows that he is overwhelmed by illusions and superstitions.
These remarks show the ugly and criminal image of all the U.S. administrations that look down on the nations of the world from the perspective of arrogance, it added.
Senior Hamas Official Osama Hamdan said that Trump’s remarks cause chaos, and if he wanted to expand the Zionist regime, he could do so in the United States.
The Palestinians will not ignore their homeland and soil and will fight the occupiers until the formation of an independent state with Holy Quds as its capital.
