Actress Recounts Emotions in Role as Jochebed

TEHRAN -- The 43rd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) has witnessed the premiere of ‘Prophet Moses’, with actress Merila Zarei offering insights into her role as Jochebed, the mother of Prophet Moses, during the film’s press conference.
Speaking about her experience, Zarei revealed the emotional depth of her performance, describing it as a transformative journey.
“On the last day of filming and in the final scene, I felt as if a part of my being was leaving me,” she shared. She likened the experience to running between Safa and Marwa, emphasizing the emotional intensity she carried throughout the project.”
The actress, known for her powerful performances, acknowledged the significance of the role, expressing her gratitude to director Ebrahim Hatamikia and producer Mehdi Razavi.
“This role was a miracle for me, and I never thought I would be given such an opportunity,” she said. She also credited her faith, praying that audiences would connect with her portrayal on a deeper level.
The film chronicles the early life of Prophet Moses and features a stellar ensemble cast, including Alireza Kamali, Behnam Tashakkor, Bahareh Kian-Afshar, and Farhad Ayeesh.
Produced by the Simafilm Center, the project is set to expand into a 52-episode television series.
Originally slated to be directed by the late Farajollah Salahshour, the project later fell under Jamal Shourjeh’s direction. However, due to health issues, the responsibility was ultimately passed to Hatamikia.
