Iran, Pakistan Discuss Promoting Defense Cooperation

ISLAMABAD (Dispatches) -- Iran’s highest-ranking military commander arrived here Sunday for talks on bilateral relations and regional developments with Pakistani officials.
Heading a military delegation, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Muhammad Hussein Bagheri traveled to Islamabad at the official invitation of the chief of army staff of Pakistan.
The top Iranian commander planned to hold meetings with senior Pakistani political and defense officials and discuss the latest regional developments and ways to promote military and defense cooperation between Iran and Pakistan.
Last month, a Pakistani navy flotilla comprising three warships made port in Bandar Abbas with the aim of strengthening training and operational ties between the navies of Pakistan and Iran.
The two sides said the visit would enhance training, operational collaboration, and the exchange of maritime experiences.
During their four-day stay in Bandar Abbas, the Pakistani naval personnel participated in a range of activities including cultural tours, sports events, and official meetings.
The visit will culminate in a joint naval exercise in the northern Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf, aimed at promoting regional cooperation and mutual trust.
