Yemen Launches Attacks on Israeli-Occupied Cities, U.S. Aircraft Carrier
SANA’A (Dispatches) – Yemen’s armed forces said on Friday they launched multiple rocket and drone attacks at three Israeli-occupied cities and also conducted a fresh attack against U.S. aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the Red Sea.
“In response to the recent massacres against our brothers in Gaza, we carried out a military operation targeting vital targets in the Israeli southern port city of Eilat, using four cruise missiles,” Yemeni armed forces spokesperson Yahya Sarea said in a statement aired by al-Masirah TV.
He added that his group also targeted other vital targets in the Israeli-occupied cities of Tel Aviv and Ashkelon and launched the 7th attack against the U.S. aircraft carrier in the northern Red Sea since its arrival.
The leader of Yemen’s Ansarullah said on Thursday that the group would monitor the implementation of a ceasefire deal between the Zionist regime and Hamas aimed at ending the war in Gaza and continue its attacks on vessels or Israel if it is breached, Reuters reports.
The group, which has targeted ships using ballistic missiles and drones in waters near Yemen’s shores to show their solidarity with the Palestinians, had long said it would cease these operations if the 15-month conflict ended.
The ceasefire is expected to take hold on Sunday.
“We will continue to monitor developments in Palestine during the three days prior to the entry into force of the Gaza agreement. If the Israeli massacres continue, we will continue our operations,” Abdul Malik Al-Houthi said in a televised speech.
“At any stage in which the aggression retreats from the agreement, we will be ready to provide military support to our Palestinian brothers,” he said.
Hours after the Ansarullah leader pledged to target Israel if its aggression on Gaza continues, U.S. warplanes launched multiple airstrikes on Yemen’s northwestern province of ‘Amran.
Yemen’s al-Masirah television channel reported on Friday morning that American warplanes conducted at least five airstrikes on the Harf Sufyan district in the province.
Yemenis have been hitting Israeli and American targets in support of Palestinians in Gaza since Israel launched its devastating war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, and in response to the American-British aggression on their homeland.
The Yemeni army has been also targeting ships linked to Israel, the United States, or the United Kingdom to force an end to the Tel Aviv regime’s brutal war on Gaza.
The operations have effectively shut down the Eilat port south of the occupied territories, causing significant economic setbacks for the Israelis.
The Yemeni Armed Forces have said they will not stop their attacks until Israel’s ground and aerial offensives in Gaza end.
Israel has killed more than 46,780 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured nearly 111,000 other individuals in Gaza since the onset of the war.
