Leader’s Message to Lebanon: We Are With You

TEHRAN -- Leader of the
Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Tuesday sent a message to the Lebanese people, pledging Iran’s support in the face of Israeli atrocities.
“We are not separated from you. We are with you. We are one entity together. We share your pains, sufferings and tribulations. We share and feel your pains. Your pain is our pain, your suffering is our suffering,” the Leader said.
The message was conveyed by Iranian religious eulogist Meysam Motiee, who has traveled to Lebanon as part of a national campaign seeking to provide aid to the oppressed people of the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
His trip is part of the “Iran-e Hamdel” campaign (literally meaning sympathetic Iran) that is trying to hand over aid consignments, collected through public donations across Iran, to those affected by Israeli attacks in Gaza and Lebanon.
On Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi welcomed his new Syrian counterpart Bassam al-Sabbagh here, the latest in a series of meetings between top officials from the close allies.
Al-Sabbagh was in Tehran for his first visit since taking up his post in September to meet Iranian officials.
The Syrian top diplomat and Araghchi attended a joint press conference later in the day where the Iranian foreign minister reaffirmed Iran’s support for Syria and resistance groups in the region.
Araghchi said that “the Islamic Republic of Iran will always be on the side of Syria and the axis of resistance,” a group of groups aligned against Israel, including Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
He said the country will “not hesitate to provide any support” to the resistance front.
Al-Sabbagh’s visit comes less than a week after Ali Larijani, a senior advisor to Ayatollah Khamenei, visited Syria and met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Over the weekend, Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh was in Damascus to hold talks with Syrian officials.
Earlier in October, Araghchi himself travelled to Damascus as part of a regional tour just days before Israel’s first aerial aggression against Iran.
In his joint news conference with Sabbagh, the Iranian minister said they had “very positive” discussions on the war in Gaza and Lebanon and the “strategic and solid” relations between the two countries.
“We welcome Syria’s stability and unity, and condemn any attempts to destabilize the country,” he said.
Araqchi condemned Israel’s repeated aggressions against Syria and also Lebanon, saying they show the regime’s hostile and expansionist nature.
The Syrian foreign minister stated that the escalation of Israeli tensions in the region is part of an American and Zionist project aimed at redrawing the map of the area, with Israel serving as a tool for this objective.
He suggested that Iran and Syria must work to create mechanisms to mitigate the harmful effects of the Western sanctions.
Sabbagh said the region is reeling from the crimes of Israel, being committed against Palestine and extended to Lebanon and

even Syria. He said there must be a halt to the crimes before any effective delivery of humanitarian aid.
“The Israeli regime should be punished,” he said, adding that Syria opposes any form of occupation and supports Iran’s right to respond to any crime.
The Syrian foreign minister emphasized the need to end the Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights and reiterated commitment to bilateral cooperation against terrorism.
He said certain countries are taking destructive actions against the Syrian sovereignty and expressed hope for deeper coordination to confront these actions.
