Official: Amirabad Port Exports Rise 25%

TEHRAN – Director general of Amirabad Ports and Maritime Department Muhammad Ali Mousa Pourgorji said on Sunday that the exports of goods from Amirabad Port registered a 25 percent growth in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year.
Pourgorji said more than 2 million tonnes of goods handled at Amirabad Port in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 to September 21, 2024).
He put the volume of goods handling at this port at 2,618,688 tonnes.
The export of goods from Amirabad Port to the Commonwealth Independent States (CIS) registered a 25 percent growth in this period, he said.
Pourgorji also put the volume of goods exported to the Commonwealth Independent States at 780 tonnes.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the official pointed to the high standard capacity of the port in storing various types of grains and basic goods and put the current capacity of the port for storing grains at silos at about 400,000 tonnes.
Once the construction o peration of the other two silos at the port is completed by the end of the current year (to end March 20, 2025), the storage capacity of the port will increase to 490,000 tons at large, he stated.
