Leader Names Bagheri Kani to Top Council
TEHRAN -- Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamanei on Saturday appointed Ali Bagheri Kani as a member of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations.
Bagheri is a veteran diplomat who served as Iran’s deputy foreign minister for political affairs and chief nuclear negotiator under the administration of former president Ebrahim Raisi. He took over as the interim foreign minister after Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian lost his life in a helicopter accident in May.
