Weekly Review of Iranian Box Office

TEHRAN -- Karim Amini’s
‘Fossil’ has made its way to the top once again, to make it the 23rd week on a row that the comedy has ruled the Iranian box office.
The hilarious comedy that achieved a record-breaking sales success, has continued to dominate the box office within the period from August 16 to 22, iFilm reported.
Amini’s flick has sold more than 93,000 tickets during the time span.
After this light-hearted make ‘em laugh movie, Amini’s ‘Lawless City’, his other comedy for this year, secured the second spot on the list, selling more than 79,000 tickets.
The box office results indicate that with the summer holidays being about to end in Iran, younger cinemagoers have picked to spend the final days before starting the academic year in cinemas watching comedy movies.
Therefore, Davoud Atyabi’s ‘Nargil 2’ (Coconut 2), a musical comedy for kids, sold more than 33,000 passes to make it the third film on the list during the past week.
