Iran Bag Four More Medals at Asian U23 Para-Canoeing

TEHRAN – The 2023 Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint Asian Championships in Samarqand, Uzbekistan, on its second day evening, was the scene for four more medals for Iran’s national team, bringing the team’s total medals to five golds, six silvers, and four bronzes.
On Thursday evening, the Iranian canoers competed in the six final and one semifinal contests.
Shayan Husseini competed with rowers from Uzbekistan, Iraq, and Tajikistan in the men’s 500-meter event and won the bronze medal with a record of 2:00.236. Rowers from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan ranked 1st and 2nd respectively.
In the Para Women KL2 500m, Roya Soltani competed with rowers from India and Uzbekistan, gained a record of 2:38.698, and ranked second to win a silver medal, while two athletes from India ranked first and third.
Eslam Jahedi, in Para Men VL2 500m, competed with rowers from India, Thailand, and Uzbekistan, and received the gold medal with a record of 2:32:685.Athletes from India ranked second and third.
In Junior Mixed XK2 500m, Iran’s team comprised of Tarannom Akbarzadeh and Dariush Muhammadi competed with rowers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, India, Thailand, and Hong Kong and ranked third and gained the 1:49.882-minute time. Athletes from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan ranked first and second.
In the semifinals of U23 Men K2 500m, Iran’s team comprised of Abbas Husseini and Yazdan Zeraatkar bagged the gold with a record of 1:40.017. Athletes from Thailand and Taiwan ranked 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The competitions will continue on Saturday morning and Iran’s athletes will continue their competitions for more medals.
