Security Forces Clash With Daesh Terrorists in Afghanistan

CHARIKAR, Afghanistan (Dispatches) – Afghan security forces have stormed a hideout of the Daesh terrorists in eastern Afghanistan, killing one militant and arresting 11 others, police said Saturday.
Police spokesman of Afghanistan’s eastern Parwan province Mohammad Kamran Zaid said security forces launched operations against Daesh terrorists in Shahrak Malamen area of Police District 1 of Charikar city, capital of Parwan province, Friday evening.
The arrested included three women and eight children, Zaid told reporters.
This was the third operation launched by Afghan forces against Daesh hideouts over the past week.
Earlier, security forces raided Daesh hideouts in the northern Mazar-i-Sharif and the western Herat cities, killing several Daesh-affiliated militants.
The Afghan caretaker administration has vowed to crack down on outlawed militants in the war-torn country.
The development came a the Russian foreign ministry has announced that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will head the delegation at the upcoming fourth foreign ministers’ meeting of the neighboring countries of Afghanistan, scheduled for April 13 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
The conference will include China, Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
The meeting aims to discuss regional efforts toward an Afghan political settlement and stabilizing the humanitarian and socio-economic situation in Afghanistan.
The Russian foreign ministry emphasized the importance of coordinating counter-terrorism and anti-drug efforts, given the challenging security situation, growing terrorist activity, and drug production in Afghanistan.
Additionally, the ministry highlighted the meeting’s focus on regional economic integration and the implementation of transport and energy projects involving Kabul in accordance with previously reached agreements.
