China, Iran Move to Strengthen Language Education
TEHRAN – China and Iran have agreed to strengthen Chinese- and Persian-language education to help boost mutual understanding and advance bilateral ties in the long term, the Iranian deputy minister of science in international affairs has said.
Vahid Haddadi-Asl touched on President Ebrahim Raisi’s last month visit to China where the two sides decided to build a close strategic partnership.
In his meetings, Raisi expressed Iran’s readiness to expand bilateral educational cooperation with China, Haddadi-Asl said.
According to the agreement reached between the two sides, a total of 100 scholarships will be provided to Chinese-language teachers in Iran by China over the next five years.
Lu Jin, an Iran expert with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that Raisi’s visit, the first official visit by an Iranian president to China in over 20 years, has immense significance for China-Iran relations and had lifted political mutual trust to a higher level.
“Given that Iran faces severe challenges in terms of the treatment of environmental pollution, water and soil conservation and clean energy, which concern people’s daily lives, there is huge potential for bilateral cooperation in these aspects,” she said.
