Traffic Comes to Standstill in Jordan After Heavy Snowfall
AMMAN (Xinhua) – Traffic came to a standstill in several governorates of Jordan on Wednesday due to heavy snowfall, which blocked some roads. According to the Jordan Meteorological Department, Jordan has been highly affected by heavy snow and rain since Tuesday, forcing authorities to suspend schools for Wednesday. The weather depression is accompanied by strong winds and fog which affected visibility in several areas and some parts of roads between the governorates such as Ajloun and Jerash have been blocked by the snow. Roads in Amman are all open, but the Public Security Department warned against driving due to slippery roads, according to a statement released on Wednesday.
