Noted Translator Passes Away at 72

TEHRAN (IBNA) -- Shohreh Nour-Salehi, a prolific Iranian translator of children’s books and horror ‎fiction died on Saturday. She was 72.‎
Shakiba Karami, director of the public relation department of Paydayaesh Publishing which printed the books of Nour-Salehi said that she was laid to rest in the Artists’ Section of Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery in Tehran on Sunday.
The first published book translated by Nour-Salehi was ‘Dinosaur with an Attitude’ by the Swiss writer Hanna Johansen in 2002. The work received an award from Iran’s Children’s Book Council.
Among other works in her career is ‘The Lion Tamer’s Daughter’ by the celebrated English author and poet Peter Dickinson which was shortlisted for the Iranian Parvin E’tesami Literary Award.
She also rendered ‘When the Ghost Dog Howls’ and ‘Welcome to Camp Nightmare,’ both by the American novelist and short story writer R. L. Stine into Persian.
